To help parents that are facing new challenges with the COL crisis thus finding it hard to make ends meet, especially with school fee/dinners
Chasdei Esther was established to support families on low income access training, education by making grants to enable people to study and receive an education . In addition, using a means tested approach Chasdei Esther supports families on low income with food staples. During the 'cost of living ' crisis the demand is more than ever and we have launched a new project 'The Meal Drive.'
We will be sending out daily cooked meals to 1000 students on low income, everyday of the school year, free of charge. This will enable families to access meals in school for their children even though they are not eligible for Free School Meals (as the Govt does not offer that scheme in private charitable schools.)
Young children aged 3-15 from low income households will receive a warm cooked meal everyday for 1 year.
Food poverty is rampant as a result of the Cost of Living crisis. Children are coming to school hungry, Teachers have reported children coming to school with fewer snacks. Food is a basic need to ensure children can learn and can have lasting effects when children suffer from malnutrition. After all its the food that sets the mood!
We are delighted to be funded by the cost of living boost campaign from Aviva and we hope to raise enough money on this campaign to serve 1000 meals a day for 40 weeks of a year totaling a whopping 200,000 meals for children in our state of art community kitchen.
