Women's lingerie crafted from sustainable, organic, and repurposed materials.

WHO WE ARE: ATÉ

Até is an independent, female-founded, forward thinking intimates brand that believes in sustainability alongside comfort and fashion.

The brand’s name is inspired by the Greek Goddess, Até, and is coincidentally the Tagalog word for “sister”, which touches on the brand founder’s Filipino heritage and is synonymous with the brand’s ethos and image.

Até is the known as the goddess of mischief, ruin, blind folly, infatuation and reckless impulse. She is neither a celebrated nor widely known goddess, and very much under-represented, but she is a strong female figure in her own right.

From the perspective of male writers of Greek Mythology Até is seen and portrayed as an anti-heroine, wayward and imperfect. From a female perspective, Até is seen as a figure that should be celebrated and given a voice. As females, we should celebrate our “imperfections”, our “unruliness” - after all women didn’t make history by obeying rules. Até aims to sustainably revive and recreate intimates with the female perspective of Até’s image in mind.

WHY ATÉ IS DIFFERENT

Até’s aim is to create environmentally sustainable intimates that women won’t want to take off.

Até is committed to creating conscious, comfortable and beautiful products to make women feel their best, regardless of shape, size or background.

Até’s products aim to be produced for females of all sizes (including larger cup sizes), providing day-long wearability (adjustable straps and backs for even the most comfortable garments).

WHAT WE WANT TO DO AT ATÉ

Até aims to launch initially with a small collection of intimates, which will consist of two to three styles made from sustainable GOTS (Global Organic Trade Standard) certified organic cotton and overstock fabric. You can expect to see a collection of basics in our launch but as our brand grows, we hope to explore other sustainable fabric options and incorporate them into our future designs, as well as design more intricate pieces. We are also putting a lot of time and effort into making sure we only work with ethical suppliers and manufactures.

Our dream is to eventually begin product development on fragrance and pleasure products, making us a one-stop shop for sustainable, cruelty-free, and eco-friendly products for women.

WHAT ATÉ IS SEEKING AND HOW YOU CAN SUPPORT

In order for Até to launch we are seeking funds to assist us with the cost of product development, materials, production and packaging. Creating a sustainable brand is a much more complex and time-consuming operation due to the many factors that need to be considered, for example sourcing organic fabrics, repurposed fabrics, natural dyes, overstock hardware and other components, as well as sourcing 100% recyclable or biodegradable packaging.

The sustainable and ethical route means that everything is a little bit pricier, which is why we would love your support.

In an article by Forbes, they explain how “sustainability was the driving concern for the fashion industry in the last decade” and that “many of today’s consumers want clothes that do not put the welfare of the planet at risk and are made to last, while limiting the amount of wasted fabric in production.”

In addition to this, Drapers explained in a recent article on the lingerie market that, “the notable trends for upcoming seasons are an increased priority of comfort, and pretty feminine styles that reflect what women want to wear, rather than catering to the male gaze.”

We want to be as inclusive as possible, by that we mean we want to offer a wide range of sizes so women of every shape can enjoy our products. But creating a wide range of sizes would require more labour and money, which is why we need your help.

WHAT ATÉ HAS ACHIEVED SO FAR

What started as just an idea at the end of Summer 2020 suddenly became a full-time research project by Autumn. After many long hours and sleepless nights of market research, analysis and planning I decided to begin making the idea a reality in January 2021 by hiring two incredibly talented freelancers, Hannah a Graphic Designer and Kathryn a Pattern Cutter. With their help, Até has now developed a brand identity and have their first patterns/samples.

WHAT IMPACT WE WANT TO MAKE

Até pledges to donate a percentage of profits of each sale to various charities for women and the environment. We believe in giving back and are motivated to affect change for the better. Every few months we will pick a charity or two to support. We are looking to work initially with Daughters of Eve, a UK not-for-profit organisation working to protect girls and young women against the practises of FGM (female genital mutilation).

At Até, we want to make a positive impact on women, the environment and encourage consumers to shop consciously, starting with the garments they put on first. We also hope to create a community with those who share similar values, as well as partner and collaborate with diverse talented/creative women and fellow female founders. As someone who is mixed white and Asian, diversity and inclusion is imperative to me and I am dedicated to lead in a way that includes everyone.

In the UK Parliaments most recent Business Statistics Report (2020) it showed that only 7% of small and medium sized enterprises were led/owned by mixed white and asian individuals. The report also stated that in 2019 only 5% of SME businesses were MEG-led (where at least half of the management team are from a minority ethnic group), which is the same percentage it has been since 2015.
