MCDC is a collective of like-minded artists from various dance backgrounds collaborating worldwide. Founded by the artistic director and choreographer Michaela Cisarikova in 2014 in London. Their mission is to explore diversity of form in dance and challenge creativity in new generations of dance artists, to create fresh and vibrant works with strong visual motifs.

As a Project based company, MCDC’s vision is to broaden audiences within dance, so far successfully doing so with original and multi-scaled works for different environments and platforms across the UK, Europe and Kenya. In order to continue to do so we need your help!

PROJECT PLAN BREAKDOWN

1. MCDC in Sweden

MCDC has been invited to perform “I love myself, do you?” and teach workshops at the Swedish international dance festival ‘Abundance’ from 4th-8th of September at Karlstad, Sweden.

Abundance is a festival filled with dance, joy and colour where dancers from all over the world meet up to perform their work, give and take classes and get inspired.

This cultural exchange packed with dance of all genres is available to the public free of charge and is happening indoors and outdoors across Karlstad for the 6th year to reach a broad audience and make the art-form more accessible.

MCDC wishes to be a part of this international dance exchange to engage with new participants in dance and share the same mission as Abundance by spreading dance to a wider audience and making it more accessible.

2. MCDC in Slovakia

We are expanding our first full-length production “I love myself, do you?” and taking it to Slovakia in October 2019 to engage with local communities, schools and the public.

This is a great opportunity for us to push the boundaries the conceptions of dance for upcoming generations of audiences, giving them the opportunity to grow artistically and bring an awareness to the dance art through our production, workshops, open discussions and smaller projects and collaborations.

We have planned and organised an outreach program for local secondary and high-schools which, consists of the performance "I love myself do you" and an open discussion at the local theatre, Dom Kultury Cadca.

Outreach program:

Workshops in Cadca, Kysucke Nove Mesto and Zilina between 20th of October - 23rd of October for a variety of local dance schools and dance groups.

Public Performance on 24th of October Dom Kultury, Cadca and Stanica Zilina Zarecie.

MORE ABOUT 'I LOVE MYSELF, DO YOU?'

I Love Myself, Do You? explores the old Cherokee fable of two wolves fighting within you. One is good, the other is evil. Which one wins? The one you feed. Fusing contemporary dance, physical and hip-hop theatre, Michaela directs three female dancers with incredible physicality that transform personal stories of beauty, identity and self-worth that feels fundamentally universal, all with a vibrant original score composed by Ross Allchurch.

Here are some audience responses and they are the reason MCDC would like to share more of this and use this time to make the work even better and coherent.

"...It was raw and guttural shrouded in that beautiful gold garment. Just stunning. To make something that felt so personal came across as fundamentally universal. From the bottom of my heart I thank you, I was moved..." - audience member.

"An arresting piece... with innovative and stimulating ideas" - The Place Review.

"Control and entrapment with a physicality which is quite breath-taking" - The Place Review.

"Strong emotional integrity" - Nicholas Minns, Writing about dance.
