MCC Clubhouse refurbishment - stage 2

Aim

Micklehurst CC are fundraising for the refurbishment of our clubhouse, including kitchen facilities, vital roof repair and exterior refresh.

Who are we?

Micklehurst Cricket & Social Club is a local village cricket club, run for the community by volunteers with a passion for the club, the game of cricket and the community. 

In addition to our 3 senior cricket sides that play in the Greater Manchester Cricket League, we have a very active junior section with teams playing competitive matches throughout the year, as well as hosting the clubs annual ‘Summer Cricket Camp’ for children in the community.

In 2025 we also established our very first Women’s Softball Cricket team, which has been a major success, with over 30 women now playing cricket at Micklehurst, many for the first time! Alongside this in 2026 we started Girls cricket, with our first 'Girls' Cricket Festival in August.

The ‘Cream of the Pennines’ as locals refer to the club, is a vibrant place for everyone. At the heart of our community, visitors are warmly greeted and encouraged to return.

Why are we crowdfunding?

Micklehurst is more than a cricket club; it is a community-focused organisation committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for all. We have worked hard to improve our facilities, recently completing stage 1 of our clubhouse refurbishment. As part of this we also upgraded our toilet facilities, now offering four modern cubicles, including an accessible option with baby changing.

The final stage of our refurbishment is upgrading the kitchen and catering facilities, vital roof repairs, installation of a new picture window and exterior refresh. This is essential to maintaining our welcoming environment. 

Quality catering is not just a luxury—it plays a vital role in how the club operates, helps generates income, and brings people together.

Currently, the kitchen is outdated, not fit for purpose, and limits what we can offer. We are unable to provide catering for events or as part of room hire, restricting our ability to host community functions such as birthdays and celebrations. This contrasts with the high standard we have achieved elsewhere in the clubhouse.

We also would like to install a new picture window looking out onto the pitch from the kitchen, and will double up as a 'food serving hatch'.

Alongside the kitchen refurbishment, we have a leaky roof! This needs repairing urgently as it leaks into the clubhouse garage and kitchen, especially when there is heavy rain.

Simple solutions to major problems to help finish clubhouse refurbishments, with a hugely positive impact on all aspects of the club and community we serve.

How we’ll spend the money raised

Funds raised will go directly towards stage 2 of our clubhouse renovation and refurbishment. This will include:

- Vital roof repairs.

- Kitchen refurbishment including new cooking equipment, kitchen work tops and catering facilities.

- Installation of a new picture window and food serving hatch.

- Repairs and renovations of clubhouse exterior.

What are the club doing to raise funds?

Festival of Cricket - Monday 31st August 2026

We are delighted that after last years success, we will be running the 'Festival of Cricket' again this year. A fun filled day will see 3 cricket games being played across the day, music, ice cream van, lots of food & drink and fun to be had all day. Everyone is welcome!

MCC Sponsored Walk - Saturday 19th September 2026

Starting at Delph Cricket Club, MCC players, members & friends will be be visiting local cricket clubs on a sponsored walk to help raise funds for this exciting project. We very much thank Delph CC, Uppermill CC and Greenfield CC for helping us by being stops along the way, with the sponsored walk finishing at Micklehurst CC. 

Every person will be asked to raise £30 in sponsorship, which will contribute to our Clubhouse refurbishment.

How you can play your part

There are many simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.

1. Attend the 'Festival of Cricket' on Monday 31st August and join in the fun!

2. Sponsor one of our walkers for £30 for their participation in the 'MCC Sponsored Walk'.

3. Make a donation on this page, any support is greatly appreciated.

4. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.

5. Your knowledge, expertise & time. Our community has an assortment of vital skills & expertise which would be hugely valuable to a local community cricket club like Micklehurst and this project.
