Abseiling off Stopford House on 23rd March 2024

Aim

We're raising money for the Mayor Of Stockport's charity, which this year is the Stockport Sea Cadets.

Remember Sam Tyler (played by John Simm) jumping off Manchester & Salford CID's headquarters (played by Stopford House) at the end of Life on Mars? 

Well that's sort of what we're doing, but with safety harnesses and ropes. We are Ames and Belinda and we have decided to scare the pants off ourselves by abseiling down the iconic Stopford House on Saturday 23rd March 2024 at 12pm to raise funds for Stockport Sea Cadets, which is the chosen charity of the Mayor of Stockport for 2024.

This is a photo of Stopford House. If you're up on the 4th floor, you can see Manchester skyscrapers in one direction and the peaks of Edale from another. It's proper high up and we're bricking it. The more funds we raise, the more we'll think we're doing this for a good reason and not because we're both of a certain age and slightly bonkers.

If we hit our target, we might even share a video afterwards for maximum embarassment. Guaranteed to be screams and blue air knocking about.
