Aim
To finish the cookery school by funding 6 kitchen worktops,hobs and ovens, kitchen equipment, and sanitary ware.
Maymessy is a new social enterprise and will house a cookery school and vegetable garden to support vulnerable children learn food education and skills.
Maymessy will initially target and run pilot studies in Oxfordshire for:
Children in care
- There are 515 children in care in Oxfordshire and a third of these children will leave the care system before they are 18. Maymessy would like to focus on a pilot study to support children from care into their adults lives by helping them receive preparation and guidance to learn to cook a range of good value, healthy and delicious meals and how relationships can be nurtured through sit down meals.
Young carers
- There are 2,272 young carers in Oxfordshire, whose key responsibilities are practical tasks, such as cooking, housework and shopping. We really want to support these young carers by giving them a helping hand to show them how to cook nutritious family meals and making sure all dietary and medical matters are taken into account.
Maymessy will also target children with weight and mental health issues in Oxfordshire and help NEET'S (not in employment, education or training) gain accredited courses in food education and support into work.
