Help me move my micro bakery from my home to a permanent site in Brixton.
My Story
My name's Maya, I started a micro bakery from my home in Brixton during the pandemic. I was stuck at home with a new baby and no creative outlet, so I started making bread...a lot of bread....and once I started making too much bread to eat, I started selling it to people on my street, then the next street, then the next.
3 years later and I’m still baking from home, now with 2 little kiddies running around. I supply local cafe’s and delis, do my weekly bake and drops on Delli. The business and waiting list has outgrown my home and it’s now time to make the exciting and scary move to a premises.
I’ve just signed the lease on a site on Tulse Hill and am so excited to transform the place from a bar into beautiful local bakery.
I hope to open the bakery in mid September 2023. I’ll be baking delicious sourdough bread made with carefully-sourced flours and monthly seasonal speciality breads. There will be all sorts of sweet bakes - all my classics like cookies, basque cheesecake and brownies but also all my new creations like nectarine custard crumble cake and chocolate custard babkas. We'll also be serving coffee and tea.
Later on once we are properly up and running there will be sandwich offerings too.
Your donations
With your help I can invest in a few pieces of essential equipment for running the bakery.
• A commercial oven. This will be integral to the business, used for baking your morning buns, cookies, cheesecake and all the weekly favourites.
• Pastry sheeter - this is for expanding the business into viennoiserie. Think pistachio and chocolate croissants and savoury miso onion danish!
