We’re raising £7,796 to install a robotic mower at Mawdesley Cricket Club, helping us go greener and reducing the workload on volunteers.
Mawdesley Cricket Club is a thriving volunteer-run community club at the heart of our village. We provide cricket for juniors, seniors, social players and families, and we’re proud of the welcoming environment our members and volunteers help to create. Our ground is used throughout the summer for matches, coaching and community events — and looking after it is a huge part of what keeps the club running.
Why are we crowdfunding?
We are raising funds to purchase a Husqvarna 580 EPOS robotic mower to help us maintain our outfield in a greener, more efficient way.
Right now, our volunteers spend huge amounts of time mowing the outfield using petrol machinery. It’s physically demanding, takes hours each week, and pulls people away from coaching, running teams and improving the club.
The robotic mower will:
reduce our carbon footprint
save many volunteer hours
deliver a consistently high-quality playing surface
help the club become more sustainable for the future
This project supports climate action by replacing a carbon-emitting petrol mower with an electric robotic system powered by renewable energy from our new solar panels — reducing emissions, improving local air quality and helping our club adapt to environmental challenges.
Sport England has offered us a £3,898 Movement Fund pledge, which we will unlock only if we raise the same amount from our community. When we reach our £7,796 target, Sport England will release their funding — meaning every donation is effectively doubled.
Your support will help us fund:
Husqvarna 580 EPOS robotic mower
Wireless reference station
Installation and setup
Programming the cutting zones across the outfield
Volunteer training
Initial blades and aftercare support
Total project cost: £7,796
(£3,898 raised by the community + £3,898 match from Sport England)
Any additional funds will go towards servicing, replacement blades and improving sustainability around the ground.
This project will make a real difference to our club and our village.
A consistently-maintained outfield benefits:
over 120 players across juniors and seniors
40+ volunteers and coaches
hundreds of visitors and families every season
The mower reduces reliance on fuel, lowers emissions and supports our long-term environmental goals. It also frees volunteers from time-consuming mowing, allowing them to focus on coaching, youth development and running community events.
By supporting this project, you’re helping us build a more sustainable future for sport in Mawdesley.
