Who are we?
We are a small but growing group of professional and amateur sewers who are volunteering our time and expertise to provide scrubs and other fabric equipment to NHS staff and other key workers in hospitals, care homes and anywhere else that needs us.
We are based in SE London with volunteers in Dulwich, Peckham and surrounding areas.
Why is this needed at this time?
There is a national shortage of scrubs and other equipment at this difficult time. Scrubs are a form of highly durable clothing that can be changed frequently in between patient contact and washed at 60 degrees. As a result, NHS staff and other key workers (e.g. in care homes) who would normally wear a uniform or their own clothes are choosing to wear scrubs instead to minimise transfer of the virus.
In addition to scrubs, we are also offering to make cross body bags to carry PPE equipment and wash bags - these allow staff treating COVID-19 patients to safely store, transport and wash their soiled scrubs once they get home following their shift at work.
Why do we need funds?
We are volunteering our time to sew and manage, but require funds for the materials (fabric, elastic, zips for bags etc.).
No donation is too small.
£20 will fund a set of scrubs.
£10 will fund a cross body zipped bag to hold PPE equipment such as masks and gloves.
£2 will fund a drawstring wash bag.
