To attract the best musicians to Stow-on-the-Wold, we would love to buy a concert-quality grand piano for our Festival and one-off concerts.

The Music at Stow Piano Fund
Who we are
Local musical charity Music at Stow was founded in 2014 and aims to bring big musical names to our small town in the Cotswolds, both for our five-day Festival each September and for one-off concerts throughout the year. We are a small charity, run by a team of committed volunteers. Our exciting mix of different musical genres has something for everyone, including the many visitors to the Cotswolds from all over the world. This year, we hope you will support our Piano Fund, to provide a high-quality grand piano for our concerts.
The Piano
In order to attract world-class piano soloists to perform at our concerts, we now feel that the well-loved and much-travelled 120-year-old piano we use needs urgent replacement, to match the calibre of the performers we would like to attract to our community. The current piano was donated to St Edward's Church in 1993 and needs replacement.
You can help us buy a suitable grand piano, like a Yamaha grand or even a Steinway, second-hand but high-quality. This will enhance our audience’s musical experience for many years to come. It will live in St Edward's Church in Stow-on-the-Wold and be used for our Festival, as well as for the extra concerts we and the Church will stage in the future. It will also help us deliver some of our growing educational goals for the benefit of young people in the area.
Some comments
Well-known concert pianist and composer Marcel Zidani says "As a musician who has experienced the magic of performing at St Edward’s Church, I wholeheartedly endorse the campaign for a new piano. I'm proud to stand with Music at Stow in their endeavour to enrich the local community with a new piano. The gift of music knows no bounds, and neither should the instruments that bring it to life."
Music at Stow's President, world-renowned classical guitarist Craig Ogden, agrees. "A top class piano would enable Music at Stow to bring world-class performers and a vast range of ensembles to their superb festival!"
Composer and pianist Michael Omer, the current chair of Music at Stow, is also wholeheartedly behind this fundraising campaign: “Our wonderful regular audience have come to expect a high level of musical performance at our concerts, and it is only right that we provide an instrument to match the exceptionally high standard of our visiting artists.”
Pianist Nicholas Ashton, director of music at St Edward's Church in Stow-on-the-Wold, says 'A top quality piano would take the provision of music in the town in a new and exciting direction. Through the generosity of Music at Stow, which will allow the church to use the piano for even more concerts and events, more people will be attracted to this lovely medieval church with its wonderful natural acoustic'.
The Music at Stow Piano Fund is dedicated to the memory of the late Brian Honess, who founded Music at Stow, and the late Lady Wilson, who was one of our Joint Presidents.
