Aim

Homemade vegan jam and ice-lollies made in limited batches from freshest fruit. No preservatives, no artificial colours nor flavours.

Hi I’m Lisa, and I’m looking for your help to raise £4000 to make my dream of setting up a business a reality.

I have been making jam for years, in my free time, based on a recipe my grandmother passed on to me and which I have adapted over the years to include new ingredients.

As my jams have been so popular with friends and family, I'd love to take the opportunity and turn it into a business and dedicate my time to doing something that brings me joy.

Me and my business

I was brought up in an environment of a family-run business that has been passed down 3 generations. Witnessing from a young age how much work and sacrifice it takes and how great it feels to be successful always made me believe that one day I would run my own business.

After having worked in fashion retail management for over 10 years I have decided that it is now the right time to start, by taking all the experience and business knowledge I have gathered and investing it into my own independent business and future.

Marmalisa Products

All products are homemade in limited batches from purest ingredients. No preservatives, no gelling agents, no artificial colours nor flavours!

I buy fresh first-class fruit from a local market all year around, and in summer I have the luxury of picking yellow plums from the tree in my best friend’s garden – let me tell you they are delicious!

Why is Marmalisa jam so tasty?

Common jam from the supermarket is in average prepared with 35g of fruits and 60g of sugar per 100g of jam, which means that there is more sugar and artificial ingredients used than fruit. The fruit used for common supermarket jam is too poor quality be sold as fresh fruits and ends up in boring jam, that's probably going to sit in your fridge for months before you finally find the time to through it away.

I want to make a change in peoples diet, creating healthier products with less sugar but a natural fruity taste including native vitamins. Encouraging the community to eat healthier by cutting out synthetic ingredients and E-numbers.

The carefully selected fruits used for Marmalisa jam are always fresh and processed the same day. Only perfect fruits are lucky enough to make it into my jam or ice lollies, which is why my jam has an incredibly fruity and fresh taste.

Variety and sustainability

I love to create as much variety as possible and uncommon combinations like my best-seller "Strawberry & Banana". Some people ask me for commission creations with their personal favourite fruits - loving the challenge!

Then I lovingly wrap the jars with eco-friendly craft paper and ribbon. Since the world is drowning and overflowing in rubbish the idea is for the jam jars to be cleaned and re-used for repeat customers, just as we do at home to create as little waste as possible. Gift sets of 2 or 3 jars in a box are also available - who doesn't love getting given thoughtful presents for the sweet tooth?

My product range starts with great variety of vegan jam and recently expanded chilli and herbal infused olive oil and pickled chilies. I am currently working on a recipe for a vegan caramel spread as well as a pesto. In summer I produce ice-lollies from fresh fruits, also offering vegan and boozy options.

There will be a discount scheme for regular customers who are returning used and empty jars and bottles as appreciation for protecting the environment, which is more important than ever. The ice-lollies are individually wrapped in bio-degradable packaging and wooden sticks come from ethically sourced wood.

Where can you buy Marmalisa?

The idea is to sell Marmalisa through several independent cafes across London and on market stall, which is yet to be set up. An online shop is coming up soon, offering shipping within the whole UK and Northern Ireland.

I have teamed up with a local cafe on Askew Road in London, who is a huge believer in Marmalisa. They are offering the full product range of Marmalisa, which is constantly increasing and have implemented my jam within their breakfast & brunch menu.

The Funding

When it comes to trading food there are several legal procedures to be taken care of, such as Insurances (product liability, public liability, market insurance, lost and stolen goods, etc.) and Food Analysis Lab.

All funding will also contribute to the following:

  • Market stall equipment and fees
  • Website and online presence, advertisement
  • Production (Jars, eco-friendly packaging, ingredients, wholesale membership)
  • Kitchen equipment (jar steriliser, freezer, appliances)

All funding will help getting Marmalisa off the ground and up as a registered UK business.

Thank you so much for supporting me and my dream!
