Aim

FCCT supports young men leaving Feltham Prison with mentoring, guidance and hope, helping them build stable, purposeful, crime‑free futures.

🏃‍♂️ Mark is Running the Boston Marathon for FCCT

A world‑class race. A life‑changing cause.

We are delighted to share that this April, Mark will be taking on one of the most iconic endurance challenges in the world — the Boston Marathon, the oldest annual marathon on the planet and a race that draws 30,000 runners from across the globe every year.

For Mark, this isn’t just a personal milestone. It’s a chance to raise vital funds once again for Feltham Community Chaplaincy Trust (FCCT) — a small, relational charity supporting young men aged 15–25 as they leave Feltham Young Offenders Institution and take their first steps back into the community.

🌟 Why This Marathon Matters

The Boston Marathon is famous for its history, its crowds, and its notoriously tough course — from the rolling start in Hopkinton to the legendary climb of Heartbreak Hill, and finally the emotional turn onto Boylston Street. It’s a race that demands resilience, patience, and heart.

Mark is honoured to be part of this global moment — and even more honoured to run it for FCCT.

❤️ Why FCCT?

As many of you know, FCCT has spent over 20 years walking alongside young people at one of the most vulnerable points in their lives: the moment they leave custody.

FCCT provides each young man with a trained volunteer mentor — usually someone of their own faith and from a nearby London community — who helps them navigate the everyday challenges of starting again:

  • finding work or training
  • managing money
  • securing safe housing
  • building healthy relationships
  • staying connected to positive communities
  • avoiding the pressures that can pull them back into offending

It’s relational, practical, and deeply human work — and it changes lives.

Mark wants to help ensure this vital support continues.

🏅 Why Mark Is Running

Mark has always believed in the power of second chances and the importance of someone walking alongside you when life is hard. Running the Boston Marathon is his way of standing with these young men — mile by mile, step by step.

He knows the race will be demanding. But he also knows that the young people FCCT supports face challenges far greater than Heartbreak Hill. If they can keep going, so can he.

📸 Follow the Journey

In the lead‑up to race day, and throughout his time in Boston, Mark will share updates, photos, and reflections. You’ll be able to follow his training, though its well underway, his travel, and the emotional build‑up to standing on that historic start line.
