Your donation will help elect the SNP candidate Marie McNair as MSP for the Clydebank and Milngavie Constituency
Personal message from Marie
“Having grown up in the constituency (where I still live and work) I know how important it is to have an elected representative who is accessible and accountable to the people who have given their trust. If elected as MSP I will always put constituents first, working alongside our local MPs and Councillors and local communities to develop and protect services and facilities, especially in areas where they are needed or under threat."
I also care passionately about Scotland, and despair about how we are held back by Westminster. I will continue to play my part both in the SNP and broader YES Movement to bring about self determination, social justice, equality and fairness through restoring Scotland's status as an independent country. Opposition parties say we should be focused on the pandemic (which we already are ) and start to plan for rebuilding post pandemic on Health , Education , Employment , Environment, Social Services, Housing , Infrastructure ( et al). These are precisely the issues we need the full powers which come with independence for. We either leave Westminster in charge with all the disastrous consequences demonstrated by Brexit and the pandemic or we look to the future and do it for ourselves. Only with full powers over all of our finances and resources can we set our own priorities , take our own decisions and build a better, stronger Scotland.
The Road to Independence.
The Scottish Parliament has already passed legislation that lays the groundwork for a referendum on independence. The Referendums (Scotland) Act became law on January 29, 2020 and the Scottish Elections (Franchise & Representation) Act gained Royal Assent in April. The Scottish Government's Programme for Government for 2020/21 said: "Before the end of this Parliament, we will publish a draft Bill - setting out the terms of a future referendum clearly and unambiguously to the people of Scotland. "This will include the question to be asked, subject to appropriate testing by the Electoral Commission, and the timescale in which we consider the referendum should be held, taking account of the current state of the Covid-19 pandemic at the time of publication of the draft Bill." The draft bill will be published as planned and the SNP Scottish Government will include the promise to enact the bill in its manifesto.
