Location: Manchester, United Kingdom

Event Date: Saturday, 6 September 2025

💬 Our Story

Each year, the Igbo community in the UK comes together in Manchester to celebrate something truly special — the Iriji Festival, also known as the New Yam Festival. It’s a vibrant, joy-filled celebration of Igbo heritage, culture, and identity.

The festival is a free, public event welcoming over 2,000 guests from families and students to dignitaries and cultural lovers of all backgrounds. It features music, dance, traditional ceremonies, authentic food, and community unity — a living tribute to our roots and pride.

As the organisers, we are committed to keeping this powerful tradition alive and accessible to everyone, but hosting such a major event comes with significant costs — from venue hire and sound production to artist fees, security, and logistics.

That’s why we’re asking you — our community, allies, and friends — to help us raise £50,000 to fund the 2025 edition.

🎯 Why It Matters

Culture connects us. It teaches, heals, and empowers. In a time when many cultural traditions risk fading away, the Manchester Igbo Iriji Festival is an act of joyful preservation — and a gift to future generations.

By supporting this crowdfunder, you’re doing more than helping us throw a festival. You are:

  • Preserving a powerful African tradition
  • Building community across generations and backgrounds
  • Creating an inclusive space of celebration and unity
  • Promoting cultural pride among the African diaspora
