Malecon Restaurant & Bar- The introduction of a Cuban themed restaurant group to take advantage of the increasing popularity of Cuba.
Malecon Restaurant & Bar- The introduction of a Cuban themed restaurant group to fill a gap in the market.

Malecon aims to introduce Cuban food/Tapas and drink to the high street casual dining market. There is a clear opportunity to capitalise on the popularity of all things Cuban from the atmosphere and imagery of Havana to the cool cocktails and energetic music.
Latin American restaurants are very fashionable and popular at present with restaurants such as Wahaca, Chilango and Turtle Bay. Thanks to easy travel, Cuba is growing in popularity, today's discerning and adventurous diners are looking for new and exciting dining experiences. Even Hollywood is making movies about Cuban food.
Malecon will not be trying to reinvent the wheel, we will be taking inspiration from the recent emerging success stories such as Wahaca and implement the passion seen in Havana and Cuba with its intense spirit, music, cool cocktails and rustic flavoursome food.
Clearly the concept has potential to acheive great success, based on the achievements of recent Latin American concepts but it also has the ability to expand into other related areas which include:
Quick service restaurants similar to Chilango
Own brand sauces, spices and cooking equipment
Cook Books.
The Plan
Within the first year Malecon looks to successfully launch site one in the former Sun Runner Pub in Hitchin, Hertfordshire and then prepare for the launch of site two in the home counties. Both sites will be looking to achieve at least £16000 per week gross sales.
Launch of site three is targeted for the end of year two with further sites planned within the following 12 months.
Year one net turnover is expected to be £606,667 with year five predicted turnover to be £6.9million. These figures will be acheived by strong infrastucture, great site locations, an unrivalled quality and core hospitality knowledge from key personnel.
The predicted turnover in 2019 for the hospitality sector will be £56.3billion.

The Exit
By the end of year five the company is expected to have grown to eight sites and so we would be looking at the potential for exit. There are two plans for exit. The first is to sell Malecon to a major hospitality company. Recent sales of branded restaurants have been between £20million to £140 million.
The second would to look for further investment to increase the growth of the concept nationwide, introduce the quick service option or even expand Internationally.
