Sport Northern Ireland Project Re-Boot: Activate has provided £4,860 of match funding
The Project aims to raise funds to get more people, young and old, more active, more aften and offer an opportunity to socialise afterwards.
Ederney, St, Joseph's are committed to delivering a better quality of fitness and leisure for everyone.
We aim to get more people, more active, more often. We promote healthy and active lifestyles habits, giving our community access to facilities and activities that help improve their health and wellbeing through participation in a range of fitness activities
We are a very proud club, with a strong community tradition. We want to retain our youth members and introduce new members from all community backgrounds. We want to offer activities for the whole community including members who are not part of competing teams.
A decline in membership between the ages of 11 & 16 has been noticed in recent years. Covid has had a huge impact on the youth in our community. This age group have went through some of the most important development years of their life's having to social distance. They have missed out on opportunities to meet and build new relationships, develop their social skills, gain confidence while improving the health & fitness and most importantly just been young and having fun. In addition, our older members are not as active in the club as they would have been prior to Covid. They are not attending games or event. They are not offering their services as a volunteer. They are not using the facilities for leisure and fitness activities.

We intend to organise a series of fitness and leisure activities/event over the winter months to encourage and empower disengaged individuals and families to reengagement with the club and its activities. We will offer athletics training, Yoga, Palates, spinning, walking/hiking and specialist wellbeing workshops, delivered in person but also available online for those who cannot attend in person. Traditionally, there are no activities on offer by the club during the winter months. We want to change that. We will ensure that the whole community feels empowered to reengage with the club and feel supported to both engage in activities and offer their services as volunteers. Covid has diminished the level of community engagement, we want to use this money to make up lost ground.

It is our vision to be in a position to offer a Winter Programme of activities suitable for everyone regardless of age or fitness levels in order to reengage some of these lost experiences and make up lost ground. A winter programme has never before been available to members,
