Scotland is famous for its spectacular landscapes and iconic wildlife, but our nature is in crisis. One in nine Scottish species faces extinction. Here, as elsewhere, climate change is accelerating. These challenges are affecting our health, our communities and our future. It’s easy to lose heart.

But there is hope – and it lies in rewilding.

At SCOTLAND: The Big Picture we work to make rewilding happen across Scotland, as a powerful solution to the nature and climate crises. Our vision is bold – a vast network of rewilded land and water, where wildlife flourishes, forests regenerate, rivers run freely and people thrive alongside nature.

How your donation helps

To turn this vision into reality, our work focuses on two priorities:

1. Committing more land and water to rewilding
We work with landowners, local communities and partners to rebuild ecosystems, recover nature and bring back missing wildlife.

Your support will help:

• Grow our pioneering Northwoods Rewilding Network by working with land managers, communities and businesses to rewild more of Scotland by restoring habitats and returning missing wildlife.
  
  
• Deliver the first large-scale nature restoration projects in Lochaber with the Loch Abar Mòr partnership. Land managers, community groups and businesses are working together to restore nature and create opportunities for people in the west Highlands.
  
  
• Drive public support for the return of lynx to Scotland. With no apex predators left in the UK today, vital natural processes that once shaped wildlife and habitats are missing.
  
  
• Return other missing or threatened native species to Scotland, like beaver and aspen. 

2. Driving support for rewilding
Through thought-provoking storytelling, events, training and advocacy, we inspire fresh thinking and build a groundswell of support for rewilding.

Your support will help:

• Train and equip more people with rewilding knowledge and skills. By empowering individuals and communities, we can create lasting change on the ground.
  
  
• Harness the power of communications tools, such as storytelling and film, to inform and inspire people about rewilding, encouraging open conversation and collaboration.
