Help Make CIC continue to support those most affected in our community.

We're still collecting donations

On the 24th July 2020 we'd raised £2,020 with 50 supporters in 28 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.

 New stretch target

Help Make CIC continue to support the most affected members of our community.

Why Make needs your support

We’ve all found the past few months challenging in different ways. In particular lock down has impacted small businesses and sole traders. But there has also been an enormous sense of solidarity throughout. People have been coming together to deliver food, help neighbours and supporting independents.

For Make’s community, the impact of lock down has been that 75% of residents sadly reported a loss of income, and 34% of those have been completely unable to trade.

There has been lots of support over the past few months, but 89% of the Make community have been unable to claim grants linked to individual business rates bills. Make was able to join the lobby effort, alongside The Women’s Organisation, to find further discretionary support.

Despite all the good progress made, there are sadly still a few members of our community who are still needing support from us.

In response to this, we’ve commissioned some of our community to respond to the theme of solidarity and produce prints for us to sell. This will help us raise the funds we need to continue supporting those members who have fallen through the gaps.

How your solidarity will help

By buying prints, or making a donation, your solidarity will help Make to support the members of our community that have been most impacted by COVID -19. Each sole trader or micro-business is unique and the support we need to give them to get back on their feet is different. By raising a little bit extra through this campaign, it will allow Make to be more supportive for longer and ensure we are a key part of their recovery.

What you can get for your money

These prints showcase the talent, creativity and skills of the Make community. They have been commissioned in response to the theme of solidarity and with the aim of raising funds for Make to continue its work. Each print is unique and reflects ‘solidarity’ in different ways. Check out the rewards you can get your hands on below. All prints will be limited edition and available in A4 or A3.

Who are we?

Make CIC is a social enterprise with the vision to see people turn their passions into prosperity.

Make sits firmly at the heart of the city’s creative and maker scene, where we’ve worked to support artists, makers and small businesses since 2012.  We have a strong sense of our place and pride in our work in the Liverpool City Region. We believe in self-sufficiency and sustainability and aim to remove barriers to people joining the economy by making things themselves, or starting their own business and becoming self-sufficient.

Set up by our co-founding directors, Liam Kelly and Kirsten Little, we created an accessible space for the community to collaborate and create; a magnet for creatives, makers, dreamers and doers bringing together people from all over the Liverpool City Region. Now we have over 75 residents occupying spaces over our three locations, in the Baltic Triangle, the cities North Docks and more recently, Hamilton Square Birkenhead. Around 75% of our residents are self-employed, small businesses owners or freelancers, their talents ranging from woodworking, silversmiths, photography, sewing, photography and more.

As well as directors, Kirsten and Liam, the Make team consists of Amy, Make’s Marketing and Communications Assistant who will be keeping you updated throughout the campaign and Charlotte, Makes Operations Coordinator, who looks after our residents and members and helps manage our buildings. Niamh facilitates our events, classes and workshops across the Make locations, currently taking place online and soon to be happening back at our spaces. New to the team is Rosie, Make's Education Manager, who will facilitate our classes programme at Make and develop educational programmes with Enterprise Hub.
