Help Us Make Our Centre Accessible for Everyone With a Disabled Toilet.
Who are we?
East Yorkshire Equine Assisted Therapy C.I.C. is a small, heart-led community organisation providing equine assisted therapy, learning and wellbeing sessions for children, young people and adults across our local area.
We support individuals experiencing anxiety, trauma, PTSD, ASD, SEMH needs, school avoidance, low confidence and emotional wellbeing challenges. Through our horses and animals, we create a calm, safe and nurturing environment where people can regulate, rebuild trust, and grow in confidence at their own pace.
Our setting is inclusive, trauma-informed and relationship-based. Many of the people we support struggle in traditional environments — but thrive when they are outdoors, with animals, and free from pressure.
We believe everyone deserves access to safe, supportive spaces — and that’s why we’re here.
Why are we crowdfunding?
We are raising funds to rent a fully accessible disabled toilet at our yard.
At the moment, our toilet facilities are extremely limited and not accessible for wheelchair users or individuals with physical disabilities. This creates a barrier for some of the very people who would benefit most from our services.
We support children and adults with additional needs, mobility challenges and neurodivergence. Without an accessible toilet, some families simply cannot attend sessions comfortably.
Installing a disabled toilet will allow us to:
Safely support wheelchair users
Meet accessibility needs for children and adults with physical disabilities
Provide dignity and comfort for those with medical needs
Ensure we are inclusive and compliant with accessibility standards
Expand our reach to more vulnerable members of our community
As a Community Interest Company, all income is reinvested back into supporting our community. We rely heavily on grants, fundraising and goodwill to improve our facilities.
This project directly increases accessibility, inclusion and community wellbeing — ensuring nobody is excluded due to physical basic needs.
How we’ll spend the money raised
We are committed to being fully transparent about how funds will be used.
Estimated budget breakdown:
Yearly toilet rental £2860
Ground work to make sure the toilet is accessible £500
Total target: £3360
Every pound raised goes directly towards making our site accessible and inclusive. If we exceed our target, additional funds will go towards improving access pathways and widening doorways to further support wheelchair users.
Community impact
Our facilities are used by:
Children with ASD and additional needs
Young people struggling with anxiety and school avoidance
Adults recovering from trauma and PTSD
Families seeking safe, supportive wellbeing spaces
Home educated young people completing animal care qualifications
Local schools and community groups
Adding an accessible toilet doesn’t just improve a building — it removes a barrier.
It allows us to say yes to families who currently cannot attend.
It ensures dignity and safety for those with mobility needs.
It strengthens our commitment to being a truly inclusive, community-based organisation.
This project will benefit not just individuals, but families, carers, schools and the wider community.
We want everyone who comes through our gates to feel welcome, safe and able to stay as long as they need.
How you can play your part
There are four simple ways you can help make this project a reality:
Make a pledge. Every donation — big or small — moves us closer to creating an accessible space for those who need it most.
Spread the word. Share our project on social media, in local groups, with friends, family and colleagues. Momentum is everything!
Offer rewards. Local businesses can support by donating items or vouchers we can offer as supporter rewards — and we’ll proudly shout about your support.
Fundraise for us. Fancy a sponsored walk, coffee morning or challenge event? Set up your own fundraiser and let us know — we’d love to cheer you on.
Together, we can remove barriers and build something that truly serves our whole community 💚
