As we see daily in the news, Ukraine is a proud nation with a great spirit. The country has a very strong sporting heritage, and even recently, we have seen outstanding performances from Ukrainian nationals in the competition arena. These include Yaroslava Mahuchikh (High Jumper), Maryna Bekh-Romanchuk (Triple Jumper) and Oleksandr Usyk (Boxer) to name a few.
The Paris Olympics 2024 are less than two years away and the men’s and women’s 4*100m track and field relay teams have a dream of competing in the games and making their respective finals! This would be an amazing achievement and would show the world it is possible to overcome even the greatest of adversities when people come together and support one another.
For this to be reality, both teams must have regular access to track and gym facilities, coaching and medical support as well as other expertise that will set them up for success, on this wild and inspirational journey.
Various instuitions and companies have already pledged support to the Ukrainian Athletics Federation, including Cardiff Metropolitan University, Fitfactory Nemce Slovakia, Dukla Sports Centre Slovakia, Slovakia Athletics Federation, UK Strength and Conditioning Association, Hytro, Power Plate UK and Output. This will go some way to helping these Ukrainian athletes to achieve their dream, however, more support is needed. We ask you all…if you could spare a donation, no matter how small, to help support the cost of travel, accommodation, and other resources to enable these athletes to come together at various training camps, in places of safety, between now and the Paris games in 2024.
This will leave a legacy for the Ukrainian Athletics Federation to ensure the sport will continue for future generations.
