Aim: Maidstone YMCA needs your help to repair & restore our well-used main hall floor to future proof it for years to come.

Who are we?

Maidstone YMCA is an established local charity in the heart of this neighbourhood that helps young and old alike get fit and stay active, and be part of a happy, healthy, connected community. We've been in Loose for nearly sixty years, providing a wealth of activities and facilities, including facilities for the Disabled Community, Sports Hall, Gym, External Pitches, Pre-School, and Cafe.

Why are we crowdfunding?

At the heart of our centre is our large main hall. At nearly 600 square metres it offers an important venue for our long-running rollerskating sessions, enjoyed by generations in the local community. It's a space for roller dance and roller hockey, basketball, badminton, volleyball, futsal, pickleball, plus children's parties, kids clubs, and indoor community events.

However, all this use has taken its toll, and it's now in urgent need of refurbishment. Restoring it to its former glory will also make it even more wheelchair-friendly, which will expand our disability programme.

Why it matters?

This floor isn't just a surface; it's the foundation of our community's sporting life. From children’s clubs to disability sports, it’s a place where everyone belongs.

Refurbishing it means continuing to offer these opportunities for the next generation.

We now need to raise £12,600 to match-fund the amazing pledge made to us by Sport England and National Lottery.

As a charity, funds have always been tight, and as cost-of-living pressures increase, we simply don't have the funds to get on with this vital work without making this big fundraising push with the support of you, our local community.

We are a not-for-profit organisation and do not receive any government funding. Unlike local council sponsored facilities, we have to work incredibly hard to maintain our centre. A big project like this simply cannot happen without your support and that of Sport England.

Let's get this sorted!

How will we spend the money raised?

All 600 square metres of hall surface needs to be sanded, buffed, primed, given a durable sports lacquer finish, and painted with fresh new lines.

We are also excited to develop our disability programme and introduce wheelchair basketball and rugby.

This will cost in the region of £25k.

Community impact

Our new floor will be super hardwearing, perfect for trainers, roller-skates and wheelchairs alike! It will be in use all year long, allowing hundreds of people young and old from our local community to get fit, active and healthy, and have fun!
