Our building is used by almost 200 young people every week. Our energy costs are rising but we need to keep the place warm and inviting
Magor Scout and Guide Hut Management Committee runs the Magor Scout and Guide HQ for the benefit of our users; these are primarily the young people of our community - almost 200 of them who come every week to be part of Girlguiding and Scouting.

We are committed to providing a safe and inviting place for the young people and our Girlguiding and Scouting volunteers. Without our building it would be so much more difficult to provide all the opportunities our volunteers do for almost 200 young people from our community each week. Our building enables the volunteers for Scouting and Girlguiding to offer opportunities for skills for the young members' future; opportunities for friendship and a safe place for their mental wellbeing.

Due to the use of the building every weekday and weekends, we will begin to feel the impact of rising fuel costs. We need to ensure that our young members and volunteers have a comfortable environment that is warm and inviting, in addition to the fact that we need to ensure that the building does not get damp. We are therefore concerned about the impact of the cost of living - we are purely funded by fees charged to our Girlguiding and Scouting groups, which in turn are funded by subscriptions paid by the families of our young members.
We would appreciate any help with the cost of heating the building so that we do not have to increase our fees to our families as the cost of fuel rises.

All money raised will be spent on ensuring we can keep on top of our heating bills, and perhaps purchasing new mobile heaters for areas that currently do not have heating. This will ensure that the building remains damp free, warm and comfortable for all those who use the building.
