Madeley Cricket Club, established in 1855, has been a central part of our community for generations. We take pride in being an inclusive club that welcomes players of all ages and abilities. Over the years, we’ve enjoyed great success both on and off the field, and we continue to grow as a vibrant, community-focused club. In 2024, we proudly fielded four senior teams playing across Saturdays and Sundays, as well as a ladies team and three junior sides. We also run thriving All Stars and Dynamos programs, introducing young children to the game. Our club is located in an area recognised by Telford and Wrekin Council and the Shropshire Cricket Board as one facing social and economic challenges. As a result, we strive to keep our coaching costs as low as possible to ensure accessibility. Why Are We Crowdfunding? - At Madeley CC, we’re committed to being an inclusive, forward-thinking club that makes cricket accessible to everyone. Over the past two years, we’ve invested in improving our facilities, including adding disabled access to the clubhouse and installing a new artificial wicket to support women’s and junior cricket. Thanks to these efforts, our junior section has grown from one team in 2021 to three in 2024, and we’re aiming to launch a girls’ team in 2025. But to continue this progress, we need high-quality, safe training facilities. Our Project - Our three-lane cricket nets have served us well for over 20 years, but they’re now in urgent need of refurbishment. These nets are a key training resource used by our junior, women’s, and senior teams almost daily throughout the cricket season. Due to heavy use, the playing surface has become worn, the sub-base needs re-levelling to prevent inconsistent bounce, and the netting must be replaced. Refurbishing these nets will ensure they remain safe and effective for many years to come, supporting the growth and development of cricket at all levels within our club.
