Help us to ensure the future of this important observatory of bird movement and allow more people to enjoy wildlife through observation.

Machrihanish Seabird and Wildlife Observatory

The Machrihanish Seabird and Wildlife Observatory is situated on
Uisaed Point in beautiful Kintyre, on the West coast of Scotland.

The Seabird Observatory is a prime wildlife watch point and tourist attraction and much awareness and excitement associated with the marine environment is now enjoyed by growing numbers of visitors.

Birdlife is abundant and varied and the species recorded now stands at just over 200 species including regular rarities such as Leachs Petrel, Balearic Shearwater, Grey Phalarope and Sabines Gull.

We want to welcome as many people as possible.  Not just birdwatchers but people wanting to relax and just enjoy being out in nature for their mental wellbeing.

We now need help to continue...........

The Observatory was built over 20 years ago and the buildings are now becoming tired and have been battered by the recent storms.  We need to do some serious repair work if we are to continue through next winter.

We need to purchase building materials and paint to repair existing damage.  We may need to pay for help in doing the work necessary.

Our observatory is important to the local community as well as the holiday makers, walkers and birdwatchers that visit.

we have also been given the chance to purchase the land the observatory is sited on ensuring  we can show visitors our Otter, passing Dolphins and the beauty of our coastline for many more years to come.

We have visited the observatory on a number of occasions since 2010 and have learned a great deal about birds. It is truly a lovely area and the research vital to understanding changes in bird migration over the years. This observatory is essential and funding will keep it on the map.
