Lymm Oughtrington Park Cricket Club is one of the longest running sports clubs in the area, having been founded in 1884.
Project Overview:
The clubhouse is where people of all ages come together to connect, socialise and play cricket. However, over time, the wear and tear on the structure and facilities have limited its full potential. This renovation aims to breathe new life into the clubhouse, making it a modern, inclusive, and accessible space for every team.
The club has over 200 members and a large number of teams including 6 senior teams (one of which is a women's team) and junior teams running from under 8s through to under 19s. We also provide coaching to children from 5 through the Allstars programme.
The main elements of the project are to:
Improve the changing room & shower areas. The current configuration is really only suitable for the men's teams, the new layout will be more inclusive and will better serve the growing membership in the women's and children's sections.
Modernise the social area. The bar and seating area will be upgraded and modernised so that the space will appeal to more members and other social groups within the community.
Why This Renovation Matters:
Our clubhouse serves as a gathering place for the teams, social events and more. However, outdated facilities and design limitations prevent us from fully meeting the needs of our community. With this renovation, we plan to:
- Upgrade the building to ensure safety and energy efficiency.
- Expand accessibility with wheelchair ramps, wider doorways, and better lighting.
- Modernise interiors to create flexible, multi-purpose spaces.
- Improve sustainability with energy-efficient appliances for hot water provision.
- Ensure that as part of our Every Person Matters commitment that all players have a suitable dedicated changing space.
Goals of the Renovation:
Improve Accessibility & Inclusivity: Ensure the clubhouse is welcoming and accessible for people of all abilities.
Create Modern, Multi-Use Spaces: Design flexible areas that can be used for various community activities and social events.
Increase Community Engagement: By enhancing the facilities within the clubhouse, we will be able to host more events, activities, and programs that bring people together.
Why are we Crowdfunding:
The club is a not-for-profit CASC (Community Amateur Sports Club) and only has limited resources to carry out this project. The club is aiming to raise £150,000 in total and are hoping to receive donations as well as applying for sports and community grants.
NB Please opt for Gift Aid if you are able, as this will allow the club to benefit from an additional 25p for every £1 raised.
