To increase local community engagement in the woodland and promote individuals connection to nature
Being outdoors is good for you!
We know that being in nature promotes all sorts of health benefits and helps tackle 'Nature Deficit Disorder' in children so we want to enable as many people as possible to make use of our beautiful ancient woodland and spend time connecting to and learning about nature and the natural world.
Our vision is to open the woods regularly at weekend for families and local people to come and help us improve the space, plant trees, monitor wildlife, crate a pond and spend time working, playing and learning together as well as making new friends and new connections.
What we will offer:
8 weekends across the year where the woodland will be open for families to come along and be part of the Lymley Wood Eco Crew developing the woodland and learning about nature.
1 family camping weekend in Summer for all who have attended the open weekends.
Short course in BSL for outdoors - using simple sign language and learning signs related to the woodland space
Opportunity to learn new skills - woodland management, planting raised beds, wildlife surveys
Chance for children to make new friends and adults to make new local connections.

The staff at Lymley Wood will provide forest school activities for children attending as well as supporting adults and community members to play a full part in the ongoing restoration and development of the woodland space.
