Building inclusive, modern facilities for our growing cricket community

For over 150 years, Lydney Cricket Club has been at the heart of our community—bringing people together through the spirit of sport, teamwork, and friendship. Today, more people than ever are enjoying cricket at our club. Our juniors are thriving, girls’ cricket is growing, and our senior teams continue to compete with pride. We’re also looking to start running a competitive women’s team.

But as our club grows, so does the demand on our facilities. Our existing changing rooms were built for a very different era, and they are now too small, outdated, and no longer able to support the needs of a modern club.

That’s why we are launching this Crowdfunder campaign: to expand and improve our changing rooms so they can serve every player, every team, and every generation for years to come.

A Huge Opportunity: Your Donation Can Be Doubled
We are delighted to share that Sport England has offered to support this project through their Movement Fund.

If we raise £15,000 or more, Sport England will award us an additional £15,000 towards the changing room expansion.

This means every donation takes us twice as far toward making this project a reality. Hitting our target unlocks a significant contribution that will have a transformative impact on what we can deliver.

Why We Need Your Support

1. Growing Participation
The number of juniors, and girls playing cricket at Lydney has increased dramatically. Our current facilities simply cannot cope with multiple teams or mixed-gender participation on busy match days.

2. Creating Safe, Inclusive Spaces
Cricket should be a game for everyone. To support the development of women’s and girls’ cricket, we urgently need dedicated, private, and secure changing areas where all players feel comfortable and respected.

3. Accessibility for All
We want our club to be a place where everyone feels welcome. Upgraded changing rooms will include improved accessibility features, ensuring players and volunteers with disabilities can fully enjoy the facilities.

4. Modern Standards
Better showers, toilets, ventilation, storage, and layout are essential to providing a clean, modern, and hygienic environment for all teams and officials.

Our Vision
This project will allow us to:

• Build larger, modernised changing rooms to accommodate multiple teams
• Create dedicated women’s & girls’ changing facilities
• Install improved showers, toilets, and washrooms
• Add accessible entrances and layout features
• Upgrade ventilation, flooring, lighting, and secure storage
• Provide a facility that supports cricket development for decades

This expansion isn’t just about bricks and mortar—it’s about building a stronger, more inclusive club for the whole community.

Participation is at an all-time high, and without improvement our outdated facilities risk holding back the progress we’ve worked so hard to achieve. We want to continue welcoming new members, supporting local schools, and hosting community events, but we need the infrastructure to match our ambition.

With the Sport England Movement Fund match funding opportunity, this is the perfect moment to act. Reaching our target will unlock a transformative £15,000 boost.

How the Funds Will Be Used
Every donation and the potential £15,000 unlocked from Sport England will go directly towards:

• Construction costs for the expanded changing rooms
• Plumbing, electrics, and installation of modern washroom facilities
• Accessibility improvements
• Internal fittings, storage, and finishing
• Materials and labour required to complete the project

We are also pursuing grants, sponsorship, and club fundraising activities, but we cannot complete this project without YOU.
