In The Frame is a Filmmakers’ Collective that supports our regional North East community in the screen industries. In response to endless demand from our community, we are producing a short film, Lucky Penny, with the intent of creating a community-centric production that not only gives established creatives space to collaborate but also provides a live production example with the opportunity of real world experience for those newer to the industry.
This film is an opportunity for anyone to get involved, regardless of their experience in film. The entire process is open to the public from in person and online meetings, to all resources and production related documents including the script - all of which can be found at intheframene.com/productions. This allows individuals to either take an active crew role or merely observe how every element of production is done.
About the film:
Lucky Penny, a story by Max Furguson and Directed by Zak Harney, is a comedy short that follows Thomas, who on his middle aged birthday believes he has found a lucky penny. But when his brother, Andy, turns up unannounced with a gift, that belief is tested to the limit.
Why we need your support:
As In The Frame is entirely volunteer run, all production support as well as guidance and time from industry professionals will be given in kind. Any funds raised will be allocated towards...
- Equipment rental and transport - ideally we want to be able to support local suppliers in paying for equipment rental, but at minimum cover the costs incurred with travel for collecting and returning the gear.
- Food and transport - we strongly believe meals, craft and refreshments as per industry standards should be available on shoot days for all the crew and cast volunteering their time and efforts. It’s also important that we assist in contributing towards traveling expenses to help remove any barriers of travel associated costs hindering community engagement.
- Locations - In keeping set costs down and our story local, we will be filming in a local home. Reaching our target funds would enable us to cover costs associated to use of the property as well as costs incurred by the residence in having to be out of the house during filming days.
- Props - 2 key consumable props, scratch cards and pizzas, are crucial to the story which will incur a small cost.
With your support, not only will we be able to create a proudly North East and entertaining film, we will provide a platform for creative collaboration and give anyone at any level of experience the chance to access a film set, generate opportunities for crew to gain real world experience under professional guidance, offer of a short film credit on IMDB, and provide a professional standard work environment example for all local crews.
