The plot for the short film lucky one follows a young black man Kwame who has been down on his luck his whole life with constant criticism from his African father and no respect from his friends he prays for a good day and gets it, he then takes advantage of it and instead of using his new found luck for the best he uses some of it to get revenge which bites him in the back side later on. The comedy takes twists and turns ultimately making kwame learn a valuable lesson.

Why is it important this is made?

The reason why I want to make this film is the simple reason that I want to make people feel something like laughter and joy for a minute even, to escape from the real world which is what I use films for. Secondly in the film industry it's hard to get a solid start so this gives me as a young writer and actor that start and the others that will be cast the same opportunity.

why should you help?

you'll be directly funding the new generation of black creatives and ensuring they get a great start and ensuring we'll be bringing more content that resonates with more culture of the uk cities and from countries abroad. There will also be a raffle for the premiere of the film 6 people will be picked from those who do help fund to go to the premiere and Q and A with the cast. The more you donate the better your chances.

Production companies are willing to make this but need funding so lets make this film together lets make this happen!

Often when black men/ boys are cast it's normally a type cast of hoodlum 1 or hoodlum number 2 and I think there's so much more to being a black man/boy than the gang life that is why in this short it touches on the father son dynamic , the relationship between friends and little hints of different cultures and myths through the story. By contributing it makes it easier for me and others like me to bring stories/ black stories to life that don't have anything to do with violence or show we are capable of more than violence.

A closer look at the creator:

My name is Jeremy Acheampong I am an Actor and writer my journey started in an acting workshop with yuaf (young urban arts foundation) for a couple months which introduced me to acting. Further down the line I became an extra on a Netflix series called Heart-stoppers where I learned more about the craft of filmmaking after that I did a couple more shows while also auditioning for films and tv shows. After a couple months/ a year I realised that waiting to be cast in something isn't how I wanted to roll and that I would make my own projects until I was noticed and this is the beginning of that journey.
