Our vision is to restore the recently discovered boxed awnings - the mechanisms, fittings and materials are all in need of sympathetic restoration. By restoring these it would then allow us to create a more enjoyable outside space for customers and the local community to appreciate.
Set in a Grade 2* listed building, we take pride and view ourselves as caretakers of a piece of Tonbridge history. We actively welcome customers and visitors to come in and look around at the space and wholeheartedly support the regeneration of the High Street. By improving the street scene, we feel this can only be to the good of the whole community.
The Bakehouse at 124 is an Independent Artisan Bakery, with an open plan bakehouse allowing customers to view all the bread and cakes being made; it is used as a community space by many local groups, both young and old and a meeting place for friends and business people alike.
Based at the North end of Tonbridge High Street, part of converting the building into an artisan bakery involved sympathetic restoration of the interior space which now shows off the beautiful historic beams and floorboards which had overtime been neglected. We would now like to turn our attention to the outside space. This funding would allow us to do so.
