Love Music Hate Racism is seeking to develop a programme of anti-racism educational resources for schools

Love Music Hate Racism (LMHR) is a not-for-profit anti-racism campaign, which aims to promote unity through the power of music.
Our message is simple, there is more that unites us than divides us and nothing demonstrates this more than the music we listen to.
Since being founded in 2002 LMHR has put on hundreds of events including large outdoor festivals, local club nights, and educational workshops across the U.K LMHR has a strong track record of empowering groups and individuals to play an active role in their own communities organising grassroots anti-racism initiatives.

Love Music Hate Racism: School Sessions
LMHR is currently seeking to develop a programme of online anti-racism educational resources with music at the heart. These resources would include engaging videos and materials that teachers across Britain would access to form the basis of workshops to be delivered to their students.
The e-learning resources would utilise artists positions as role models to highlight both the effects of racism and the importance of challenging it. The workshops will also challenge common racial stereotypes within musical genres with the aim to encourage young people of different ethnicities to feel free to create and engage with the music they desire.

We have seen first hand the inspiration young people received when bringing star artist Ramz to speak to classrooms in Barking.

This educational programme would be a key asset in the drive to tackle racism from a young age across the country while encouraging students to explore their love for music in all forms. We want to educate young people about anti-racism and what it means to be an anti-racist, whilst continuing to bring people closer together through music.

The majority of LMHR budget comes through donations, which has been impacted during the pandemic. LMHR has always functioned as a volunteer organisation making this moment in history particularly difficult to operate.
We are asking for your help to deliver on this programme as without this funding, this project simply won't be achievable.
The money from this fund will go towards:
Through our partnership with the UK's largest teaching union, the National Education Union/NUT Section we will ensure resources are developed to have the greatest impact on the curriculum and can scale out to schools across the country.

We can't wait to get started on this project and would like to thank you for making it happen!
