Help us keep St Thomas Community Food Hub going — and secure its future

Our current lease comes to an end in May 2027 and sadly for personal reason we have made the difficult decision not to extend the lease. The last six months have been very difficult to manage, as my daughter has not been able to attend school due to anxiety, but despite me having to work from home most of the time, our wonderful team of volunteers and cookery tutors have kept all our activities running.

We want to make the most of the time we have left and keep St Thomas Community Food Hub open, active and serving our community until next May. To do that, we need to raise enough money to cover our rent and essential running costs for the next six months.

We also want to use this time to explore what could happen next. Ideally, we'd love to see the premises handed over to another community organisation, or to find new homes for some of our assets, including the community fridge, so that the work can continue elsewhere after we close. If you'd be interested in taking over the food hub premises or the community fridge please get in touch!

Join us as a volunteer

Money isn't the only thing we need. We are also looking for guest chefs with experience cooking vegan food, who can commit to cooking at our lunch club at least one Thursday a month. We often need extra people to help with chopping and washing up. Even a few hours of regular volunteering can make a huge difference.

We also have a couple of slots for regular volunteers to cover a weekly shift and help us keep the food hub running during our normal opening hours Monday-Thursday 10am-3pm. We welcome volunteers who can help occasionally on Fridays when we have cooking sessions or other events, and who can cover other shifts when our regular volunteers are sick or on holiday.

If you've ever thought about volunteering with us, now would be a great time to get involved.

Hire the food hub

We also want to make sure that the food hub is used as a much as possible in the time we have left. If you'd be interested in organising a regular, or one-off event, send us a message. We don't have the capacity to organise any more events ourselves, but we can still host other organisation's activities.

The food hub is available to hire any day after 3pm, and on Fridays and at the weekends. Previously we have hosted pop up meals, fundraising events, cake making sessions, talks on ADHD and the menopause, AGMs, poetry workshops, community consultations, craft activities, and more.

Every contribution helps

Whether you enter our prize draw, make a donation, volunteer your time, or simply share our fundraiser with friends, you are helping us keep this community resource going into 2027, and helping us give some of our food hub activities the best possible chance of continuing

By entering, you're not only giving yourself the chance to win some amazing prizes, you'll also be helping local people access good food, learn new skills, and build stronger community connections. Everyone who enters will also get an invite to our closing down party.

Thank you for supporting LOVE Food CIC, and good luck!
