Aim
New found love and the hangover like quality of a romantic fling. A weekend long escapade following two young men over a folkloric festival.
We are excited to begin work on our new short film "Love Finds a Fool", our central project for this year, and we hope you can lend a hand in helping this film get made.
The film starts with a feeling most of us recognise, the rush of being chosen. That moment where intensity feels like connection and desire starts to feel like fateful meaning.
It follows a weekend shaped by a familiar queer dynamic: intimacy through intensity, rather than safety. What feels like a love story is actually something else: an awakening that arrives through loss.
The film follows an introverted, emotionally overloaded young man arriving alone at a hedonistic festival, part rave, part refuge. The environment is expressive and ecstatic. Noise, bodies, colour and movement. A place that’s too much yet totally his.
He meets a man almost immediately. Their connection forms fast and without structure. They dance, lose each other, find each other, slip into tents, forests, shadows. Conversations arrive already intimate, secrets are shared which feel too quick for how little they know each other. But it’s as if they’re continuing something that started long before this weekend began.
Attraction intensifies into fixation and chemistry begins to feel authored - meaningful and destined.
By the end of the festival, the protagonist is no longer navigating reality, but a complete intoxicated enchantment. A prophecy is spoken, love is mentioned too quick and the protagonist is swept away.
Love Finds A Fool is the latest short film from Jack Harper and his crew following the success of their thesis film The Lazy Days (recipient of Best Director, Best production, Best Editing and Best Cinematography awards from a panel of BFI judges).

Other works from his crew include campaign films that have been commended by the Home Office (1); a photography Youtube channel with a total of 350,000 views (2); and a number of personal projects screened at self funded events in both London and Glasgow (3,4). A handful of earlier short films made by the crew can also be found on the Youtube channel Earthtone (5).
Production of the film will be taking place at the end of August on location at a live music festival in Kent. 2 casted actors in a setting of real people and real action.
