Love and treats for Dr Beth Upton

Aim

Let's show Dr Beth some love and support and raise some money so she can treat herself when this is all done!

Dr Beth Upton is an ED doctor in Scotland. Another employee has brought a claim against her employer after being suspended for allegedly transphobically harassing Beth in a changing room. Beth has been named in the employment claim, and her petition to have the claim heard in private was denied. As such, her name has been widely reported. Online trolls have been discussing her extensively online and allegedly have reported her to the GMC because of her gender identity. Her dead name and pictures of her pre transition have been widely circulated.

As a group of doctor mums, we are saddened that Beth has been subject to transphobic harassment at work, and horrified that this has escalated into Beth being unwillingly pushed into the national spotlight merely for existing while trans. We want Beth to know that we as doctors would gladly have her as a colleague and believe that she is entitled to a safe, dignified and respectful working environment. Stay strong Beth - the NHS needs dedicated ED doctors more than ever!

We're crowdfunding here as show of support, and also so that Beth can treat herself to something nice when all this is over. I (the organiser) do not know Beth personally but will be in touch with the Trust's legal l team to make sure she gets the funds.
