Aim

Long Eaton Swimming Club would like to re-build and secure the long-term future of the club.

What Crowdfunding means to Long Eaton Swimming Club?

After a very difficult year, Long Eaton Swimming Club would like to re-build and secure the long-term future of the club. Whilst we are very lucky that due to the efforts of our volunteers, coaching staff, membership and very supportive parents, we have been able to get all of our swimmers back to the pool (with the exception of our 18+ members due to present government restrictions).

However we need to do more as we face a challenging future. Like many other Swimming Clubs, the Covid-19 pandemic has had a huge impact on our Club. We have suffered significantly with reduced cash flow, having lost in excess of 25 talented members, cancellation of our Open Meets (competitions) and other sporting and social events. Long Eaton Swimming Club is a not for profit organisation. All income generated goes towards overheads such as pool hire, coaching fees, maintenance costs and equipment.

We have launched a Crowdfunding page to help Long Eaton Swimming Club re-build and secure long-term success by bridging the financial impact caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. Funds raised will help to ensure financial stability for the Club, so that it can continue to serve its swimmers long into the future.

We believe that with funding and support from the local community, we can continue to help young athletes achieve their individual potential through discipline and hard work. You will be helping our swimmers to focus on exercise, discipline and participation which will aid their development in all aspects of their future lives. You can literally ‘make a difference’.

Our Story

Long Eaton Swimming Club is a competitive club with members ranging from 5-80 years old. The Club caters for all swimmers regardless of age and ability and provides structured teaching and coaching with qualified staff. Our structure takes non-swimmers in our Swim Mark Accredited Learn to Swim Programme (Little Sharks), through a series of performance squads, to our Masters and Fitness squads. As one of the premier Swimming Clubs in the East Midlands region, we compete at local, regional, national and international level events. We are focussed on developing home grown talent from the local community designed to take young swimmers and provide a pathway to enable them to achieve their athletic potential.

The past 12 months and the future

Over the past 12 months it has been extremely hard for the swimmers, everyone involved in the day to day running of the club and of course parents. For many of our swimmers, swimming is more than just a sport, it’s their social life and their escape. They love nothing more than being in the water doing what they love. Throughout the lockdown, maintaining a level of fitness and face to face time with the Coaches and other swimmers was really important – our swimmers have been motivated by our Coaches doing Zoom land training sessions. Also, the Club wanted nothing more than to maintain a strong engagement with its members. Multiple activities were organised such as guest talks from British swimmers, family quiz nights, charity social distanced walks, monthly step challenges, a Three Peaks Challenge climbing flights of stairs in the home, fun challenges and baking competitions.

The Club is delighted to see the majority of its swimmers return to the pool once again. It has been an incredibly tough year and we are very proud of our swimmers for the way they have adapted to all of the unprecedented changes imposed upon them during this time. The support from swimmers, parents, coaching staff and all of the volunteers that give up so much of their time for their club is truly commendable and humbling – which in turn has kept the Long Eaton Swimming Club family together during this time.
