London National Park City is the unique, long-term grassroots movement for everyone making London greener, healthier and wilder.
Launched in July 2019 with the support of the Mayor of London and 260 partners and organisations, we’re now excited to be launching our first ever pop-up visitors centre at 109 Fleet Street, just a stone's throw from St Paul’s.
We need your help to make this shared community space a roaring success and with the help of the Aviva Community Fund, every individual donation up to £250 is doubled!
Our aim is to use this community space as part of our mission to reconnect every Londoner with urban nature, to equip communities to improve their lives, health and wellbeing with the support of our 160 volunteer Rangers who lead outdoor activities, nature engagement, climate actions, and health and wellbeing activities in their neighbourhoods.
We’re already working with partner organisations like: National Trust, London Sport, Barbican, Natural England, Sustrans, and the City of London.
What your money will be spent on
We'll use the money raised from your donation to directly support smaller grassroots and community groups and individuals, who we’ll offer the space to for free to use for activities benefiting local communities, to make every event affordable for everyone, and free of charge to those who need it.
Every penny of your donation will be used to support these smaller organisations.
Your support will pay for resources and materials for workshops, travel and transport for getting things and people to and from the shop space. We'll be able to pay a modest allowance to speakers and workshop leaders to ensure diversity of participation and cover attendance costs for those who need it.
Your donations all add up and ensuring we can share and promote each event ensures that we can help more people participate in urban greening and nature connection - every tenner really does make a difference!
If you or your organisation or business can afford to choose our Headline Sponsor reward, that £250 will be doubled to £500 paying for a whole week of the cost of running the shop. which goes such a long way to supporting London National Park City as a whole.
Come and visit us in person
109 Fleet Street is our place to meet, collaborate, and share. A showcase for London National Park City. What it is and means. How to get involved. With a rolling exhibition of Ranger projects, volunteering opportunities, and things to do.
We’ve a packed calendar of events rolling over the next 6-9 months, with week-long residencies each month, and regular seasonally appropriate events.
We’re hosting public learning and urban nature workshops, alongside the curated residences led by our partners, with workshops featuring everything from fashion upcycling, circular economy, planting and greening skills, arts and crafts, and guides for getting together outside through walking, active travel and community sport.
We’re aiming to be open most afternoons during the week, but with a really small staff team we’ll be reliant on volunteers, and hope that with your support we’ll be able contribute towards a community organiser who can help our front of house.
Choose your rewards
We want to celebrate everyone who provides their support, so do select a Reward that works for you. Chip in a tenner and you'll make it on to our wall of fame in the shop, for £18 we'll send you your very own copy of the London National Park City urban nature map, or step up with £25 for free entry to all events during a month of your choosing, or a whopping £100 for free access all year!
And if you're especially generous for gifts of £250 and above you'll get to become a headline sponsor of one of our week-long residencies and we'll share the love on social media and to our supporters.
For one very special supporter you'll get to name our co-working space at the back of our shop. Roomy-McRoom Face perhaps? Or something more to your liking? As long as it's not rude, we'll leave it up to you to decide.
What we need help with
Every penny raised will directly support activities for the benefit of communities across London, enabled by or hosted within our new visitors centre.
We’ve been so fortunate to get the space free of rent and rates thanks to our friends at the amazing charity ASTOP who help charities like ours access free space. But we do need to cover some costs like electricity, and we want to have funds available for resources and materials for each of the community events.
We've also received gifts in-kind from the City of London who very kindly donated lots of furniture to get us ready for opening in February.
But we really need your contributions to help match-make funding for dozens of smaller community groups so that they can host their events and share their amazing knowledge in this new community space.
It's never been more important to reconnect people with nature. To help more people recognise how wild and rich in biodiversity our city is with over 15,000 species, 8.4 million trees (nearly one for each of us), and almost half of the city comprising of green and blue space with our many wonderful, but at risk, parks, gardens, rivers, allotments and community spaces.
This live experiment to inspire people to embrace the London National Park City Charter will only work with your help.
We really want to make the most of this unique opportunity, and realise our ambitions to make this first visitors centre THE place to bring all Londoner together to help make our city greener, healthier and wilder!
