I'm cycling from London to Paris in less than 24 hours to raise much needed funds for four charities close to my heart.
I'm cycling from London to Paris. Usually when you do this you do so in a 3 day event riding 70 miles or so per day. I'm riding with my brother and two friends to raise money for four charities close to my heart and we are aiming to complete the 200 mile ride in less than 24 hours. This is no mean feat.
Let me tell you a little about the charities, why I'm riding and what your donation could achieve.
Croydon Community Against Trafficking is a charity I founded and am Chair of Trustees. CCAT prevent human trafficking by intelligence gathering and working with police and the council and local community to highlight when vulnerable young girls are found in the local sec industry. In our brief 15 year history we have helped provide insight for the rescue of scores of girls, and were the main campaigner that helped the Newsquest group decide to stop their adult services adverts which were a major supplier to the off street establishments. Fredericks Foundation is a charity that enables people that are financially excluded from society to engage in start up enterprises that lead to financial independence. We are establishing a women's loan fund that will make funds available for single mums, women with disabilities, women ex prisoners, BAME women and young women under the age of 25. Video
Alder Hey Children's Hospital Charity helps to fund projects that are designed to enhance and improve the lives of amazing young patients. This includes the funding of specialist medical equipment to ensure our brilliant surgeons and clinical staff have the most up to date and cutting edge technology available and funding hi-tech distraction technology designed and proven to reduce pain and anxiety in our patients. I've been working with them for four years and am so proud to have this association. Video
Contact the Elderly is the national charity dedicated to tackling loneliness and social isolation among older people living in the United Kingdom. Their mission is to empower older people to make new social connections, and break out of the cycle of social isolation. I've recently become a volunteer host along with my family and we provide a Sunday Afternoon tea for older guests aged 75 and above in our community in order that they are able to get out of the house and meet with other guests and volunteers. I'll be splitting the donations equally among them all. Please either give because of the amazing cause, or because it will help me get over saddle soreness, or because it's not a bad effort!
Thank you x
