London Safe Pods: Give Them One More Chance to Make It Home
My name is Stacey and I'm a mum to two teens, a daughter aged 14 and a son aged 15.
Like many parents across London, I worry every time my children leave the house. Everyday, families live with the fear that their child could become another victim of knife crime or serious violence.
That fear became even more real for me after hearing about Brayan David Saldarriaga, a 15 year old boy who tragically lost his life after attending a house party in Hackney. My own daughter, who vaguely knew him, had also been invited to that same party, and Brayan was the same age as my son.
I couldn't stop thinking about the young people who are forced to run for their lives with nowhere safe to go. No parent should ever have to wonder whether their child will make it home.
That is where the idea for London Safe Pods began.
London Safe Pods (LSP) is a community led initiative exploring whether secure emergency refuge pods could provide people fleeing immediate danger with a protected place to run while emergency services are alerted. The project is currently in the concept and design stage, and this fundraiser will help us take the next steps towards making that vision a reality.

We are raising £5,000 to help grow London Safe Pods (LSP) and support our community projects.
Your donations will help us to:
Develop the London Safe Pods concept.
Build a pop up prototype for public display.
Host our Community Fundraising Day on 25 May 2027.
Raise awareness of knife crime and community safety.
Continue growing our public petition and community support.
Support LSP Youth, our youth initiative, by helping to fund small, supervised trips and positive activities for local young people aged 11-15, subject to funding.
Cover essential costs such as insurance, equipment and resources needed to safely deliver our community projects.
If additional funds remain after these priorities have been met, they may be used to purchase stab resistant protective clothing for young people identified as being at high risk, while wider preventative measures continue to be explored.
Why this matters
London Safe Pods is not about claiming to have all the answers. It is about asking one important question:
Can we create another place of safety for someone who has nowhere left to run?
This project is about bringing communities together, encouraging new ideas, and working alongside councils, emergency services, charities and the wider public to explore practical ways of improving community safety.
London Safe Pods is our flagship project. Through our Community Interest Company (CIC), we also hope to deliver small community initiatives under the LSP umbrella, including LSP Youth, which aims to organise one or two supervised trips each year for a small group of local young people, subject to funding and appropriate safeguarding arrangements.
Every pound donated helps us continue developing this concept, building public support, and moving one step closer to presenting London Safe Pods to the organisations that could help make a pilot scheme possible.
