London Recruits - South African Film Tour

Aim
To support London Recruits screenings across South Africa at the invitation of SA Trade Unions & anti apartheid Freedom Struggle Veterans
Our film, Comrade Tambo's London Recruits, has won awards around the world including several in South Africa.
The film is being seen around the UK in cinemas taking part in our People's Release, but so far it has only been screened at 3 'invitation only' events and 3 festivals in South Africa.
Despite this limited exposure, those South Africans that have seen it feel passionately that this extraordinary story of international solidarity, anti-racism and Oliver Tambo's strategic genius, should be widely available to the people who bore the brunt of the struggle against apartheid - the ordinary citizens of South Africa.
An invitation has now been extended by South African liberation organisations, including Trade Union body COSATU, to screen the film across all 9 provinces of South Africa this September and October 2026.
The tour is being organised and logistically supported by national and local South African freedom struggle veterans organisations.
The vision is to make the film accessible to people who are not normally served well by cinema in rural and township areas - with screenings being free to attend.
They would like original London Recruits to take part where possible and share Q&As with South African veterans around the country.
We are serious about to taking up this invitation and want to support it in any way we can.
Logistics and licensing for public screenings of films are complex, and coupled with travel, equipment hire and insurance, the costs of putting on such events are high.
We are fund raising elsewhere as well, but a vital part of the overall effort to make this happen will be down to the support of people in the UK.
