Wait, what… Fashion rental?
Sure, it’s all about the access economy. If we can sleep in other people's beds through Airbnb or rent bikes, cars, and even pets for the day, then renting clothes is an easy step for a generation that prefers to spend money on experiences over things and wants to do right by the planet.

As an evolution of buying and selling your vintage and preloved fashion (sellers remorse anyone?) the potential for LOANHOOD is huge. LOANHOOD will be the go-to app for inclusive, diverse and creative style, extending the life of every garment without having to let go of your favourite piece.
We are starting local but we aim to grow our network of Loaners nationwide and beyond - making fashion rental the new normal.
Currently over "5% of the UK's total annual carbon and water footprints result from clothing consumption. Extending the average life of clothes by 3 months would result in a 5 to 10 % reduction of their carbon, water and waste footprints, extending the life by 9 months would result in a 20 to 30 % reduction."

We know fashion is packaged as fun and light and fabulous but it is wildly polluting and built on a system of colonialism and continued systemic racism.
Working in the fashion industry collectively for over 30 years we had a decision to make, do nothing and be complicit or try to change something. So we set about using our skills and knowledge to find ways to do fashion differently. Ways that are better for the planet and better for people.

We will think of possible ways to extend the life of the garments or dispose responsibly plus discuss in detail how to develop your own signature style which you feel comfortable and confident in!

We (Jade, Jen and Lucy) have spent the past two years working on LOANHOOD and we are now ready to build a community of stylish side hustlers and savy renters to disrupt fast fashion for the good of the planet.
We will use the money for
- Community building - LOANHOOD is only as strong as its community so to reach the fashion rental pioneers and eco changemakers out there we will be working with marketing and PR professionals, content creators and photographers to bring to life the LOANHOOD world both on and offline - real, actual events anyone?
- Further develop the app, adding key features, making bug fixes, tweaks and performance improvements - like all apps out there, there will always be little things we can do to improve your experience, the crowdfund will help pay for this.
- Digital overheads - Web hosting, cloud storage, Mailchimp and other software subscriptions - boring but essential.
Taking on a $1.74 trillion industry may be a bold move but together we can make a difference.
