Aim

We aim to raise enough support to create a Rum that pays homage to The Old Dock and the Rum, Tea, Sugar and Spices that came through it

We are a small team of three proud Liverpudlians, living and working in the City. Collectively, we have experience as Chefs, Product Developers and Sensory Scientists. We all share a passion for Liverpool and Rum and would love to bring the two things together.

We have been hard at work creating a special Spiced Rum and want to share it with the people of Liverpool and beyond.

The Lost Dock

Lost for almost two centuries, Liverpool's Old Dock was the worlds first commercial wet dock and it's creation in 1715 heralded a prosperous new era for Liverpool.

Upon it's creation a small town of insignificance was to become one of the leading port cities in the world.

Prior to the building of the Old Dock, ships could only load and unload their cargo at certain times. This depended heavily on the tide and could typically take two weeks.

However, a certain civil engineer named Thomas Steers had innovative designs to to convert the mouth of the old 'Pool' into the first commercial wet dock with quaysides and a river gate. Ships could now load and unload regardless of the tide. This took the turnaround time down from two weeks to a day and a half and overnight propelled Liverpool to the most desirable destination for merchants from all over the world.

As well as designing the Old Dock, Thomas Steers was the Chief Engineer on the project. He was appointed Dock Master in 1717 and Water Baliff in 1724 and Mayor of Liverpool in 1739. Legend!

Without his revolutionary design the construction of the Old Dock and the risks that were taken to commission it, Liverpool would not be the vibrant, innovative and multicultural city it is today.

The commissioning of Thomas Steers to design and build the dock is arguably the most significant moment in Liverpool's history.

The Rum

We therefore wanted to create a Rum that pays homage to the impact Liverpool's Old Dock, it's designer and celebrate that the Lost Dock is now open to visit and discover. Hopefully it and it's significance will never be lost again.

Rum, spices, sugar and tea would come from all over the world into Liverpool's Docks and we wanted to encapsulate and celebrate that in a bottle.

We import an English Style rum from Guyana and infuse it with tea and spices from around the world, with a hint of smokey orange to finish.

What we have created is a premium spiced rum and a fitting tribute to the Lost Dock of Liverpool.

Your Support

Join us in raising a glass to Liverpool's Lost Dock by supporting our campaign and make our dream a reality.

We have the rum developed, labels professionally designed and bottles selected. We just need some extra funds to purchase our first batch of rum. Then we can bottle it and share it with the world.

See our pledges page to choose your level of support.

Thank you in advance.
