We will continue to revitalise the larger grey areas to the rear of the site

Aim

Our project is aimed at enhancing biodiversity through the revitalization of areas within the facility

Our project is aimed at helping combat the effects of climate change through bio diversity and ensuring community well being through the revitalization of the facility areas

Lisburn BMX Club's facility is situation on an old refuse site, many of the areas that have not been utilised still have some sort of waste. The facility itself would be quite '' industrialized'' due to the previous usage and this has also contributed to the introduction of an invasive non-native species of plant.

Previously we undertook a much smaller project to plant a small hedgerow and an annual wildflower area and it was a huge success .

Through this project we aim to clear the larger areas of pollution, transform ''grey'' areas into greens areas & eradicate the non-native species.

Some of the of these aims will revitalisation of ''grey'' areas into greens areas through;

  • Planting of native species rich double hedgerow along a newly fenced area 200m
  • Soiling and Seeding of grey area's with grass seed & perennial wildflower seed
  • Increase woodland cover through native tree planting
  • Creating a new tree line along the road way
  • Building of mini beast areas within in the wood land

Other objectives of the project will involve the local community in our clubs efforts to enhance biodiversity on site and mitigate against Climate Change, our project aligns with various strategies including

  • All Ireland pollinator plan
  • LCCC- Local Biodiversity Action Plan (LBAP)

The project will not only enhance the wider communities and users experiences but also help you and the club play its part in Climate action
