We are a creative partnership based in London and Lisbon. Our aim is to create a closer relationship between the performing arts circus, dance, theatre and performance and the processes of urban and social regeneration.
Lisbon Busking Festival was born from the desire to create more Arts opportunities in Portugal. We want to create a Street Arts festival in Lisbon to boost local development, create more employment opportunities for artists and to enrich urban social spaces.
To achieve this we are establishing partnerships with several cultural associations and together we aim to put Lisbon on the international circuit of street arts. We envision a festival that focuses on artistic quality, the reversal in national art, promotes emerging and established artists, and calls for the participation of the Lisbon communty in direct support of culture.
In it's first year LBF will intend to reach out to the community , providing a set of improvised poetry shows, living statues, jugglers, acrobats, clowns, puppets, mime, dance, theatre, performance, music. It will offer an inclusive programme for all audiences of diverse culture, race, social status, gender or age.
This event provides opportunities to reach city audiences who have been neglected by this type of initiative. We have collaborated with with cultural associations such as Junta de freguesia de Arroios to confirm plans for cultural and urban regeneration of the city.
We are confident that the festival will benefit the city, its sponsors and partners. We, the codirectors of LBF Tiago and Ana Rita are young and ambitious, we believe that this project will expand and stimulate the culture of Lisbon, establishing it within the existing international Street Art networks in Europe.
We are asking money for:
• Accommodation for Artists within the programme.
• Travels and Food expenses for artists and volunteers.
We thank you for your support.
