Hello, my name is John Sweeney and I am a journalist and writer. In February 2022 I came to Ukraine before the start of the big war and stayed throughout the Battle of Kyiv, making videos which ended with the phrase "Vladimir Putin: Do Fuck Off!" That spring I wrote my best-seller, Killer In The Kremlin. I believe passionately that we must stand by Ukraine in his fight against Russian fascism.
In December 2023 I fell on black ice in Kyiv while delivering crutches - oh! the irony - and tore my quadriceps tendon in my left knee, which meant I couldn't walk for months.
Now much recovered - I still limp - I am determined to walk the Kyiv Half Marathon on October 11. If you can support me, every penny I raise will go to a basket of Ukraine charities. They will include:
