The Forum is Hexham's independent cinema, run for the community by local staff and volunteers. It opened in 1937 and retains many original features. It welcomes groups and activities ranging from parent and baby screenings, quizzes, creative writing, reading, artists and photographers, live music, to opportunities for young local film makers to present their work.
The original Art Deco cinema wall lights are over eighty years old, are broken or missing in places, and all are discoloured by nicotine from the decades before the smoking ban. It is time to lavish some care on these historic fittings. We need to raise the funds for specialist contractors to remove, examine, repair, clean or restore them. The curtains around the auditorium and across the screen are in tatters and stained so need complete replacing.
'We' are the Forum Cinema Supporters Association, a small group of volunteers united by our love of the Forum and all it stands for. Our task is to raise the necessary funds for these projects. Please support our cinema! Generously!!
