Aim

What’s happening at Light House? WHO KNOWS! The website isn't working. We need a new one to clearly show who we are and what we do.

A Bit About Light House

Light House is a registered charity, based in Wolverhampton's iconic Chubb Buildings. We have two cinema screens and show a range of independent and mainstream films as well as hosting talks and conferences as part of our charitable aim to promote an accessible film education for all. We also have a cafe and two gallery spaces and hold exhibitions by local and international artists, and host live music events, quizzes, and various social, health and well-being and educational groups.

Arts venues have to adapt to survive, and Light House offers the local community more than the latest films. We are home to groups with topics ranging from health to languages. There's even a kids' Play Café. You wouldn’t know this from our website without digging around. It shouldn’t be this hard to see what's available at Light House. We're going to change this, with your help.

Sounds great...so what's the problem?

2019 is the 10th anniversary of Light House’s current website. It's not an anniversary we want to celebrate. How many updates has it had since 2009? Not many. Light House has evolved in the last decade – we need a website that truly reflects what we do. Yes, films are important, but we’re much more than just a cinema.

On a good day, our current website shows our film listings. This isn’t enough. A new website will also reflect the groups that use our space, let people know what’s going on and how they can join in. Light House is a community hub, and a functioning website is a vital part of getting that message out.

What are we going to do about it?

An online presence is critical. A functioning online presence is even better, as it’s the first port of call for people wanting to find out about Light House. We have a great programme of films, but sometimes you can’t buy tickets online. We’re a registered charity, but our website doesn’t have an option to donate. We’ve got a café, but you can’t browse a menu before you come. A new website would fix all these issues and make everything much more accessible.

We want Light House’s website to be practical, stylish yet functional, like our landmark building in Wolverhampton. It’s frustrating trying to book tickets online but find you can't, or search on your phone then find the website isn’t mobile-friendly. Visitors leave disappointed. Light House loses customers when each ticket sale contributes to our future. We need to strengthen the message that we're a registered charity, dependent on footfall and donations. We can't do that with our current website. With your help, we can get that new website launched and really help Light House shine online.
