Kidderminster Carolians Rugby Club – Flood Light Project

First and foremost, hope you and your families are well.

Kidderminster Carolians Rugby Football Club are at the heart of grass roots rugby in Kidderminster, striving to make the game accessible and affordable to all with the aim of preserving the sport in the town long into the future.

To support this goal, we have secured permission to install new floodlights at our Marlpool Lane ground which is great news and will help in safeguarding our most valuable asset, our pitches.

During the winter months we have needed to cancel training to allow time for our pitches to recover resulting in many of our age groups having to miss training sessions to support their development. The introduction of new flood lights will allow us to rotate training and enable the pitches to recover.

KCRFC are not immune to the impact that Covid-19 has presented. During what is traditionally our busiest time of the year, we have closed our club house doors to visitors, cancelled social functions, private hire of facilities, all planned fundraising events, age groups fixtures and training. Naturally this has significantly reduced our opportunity to raise funds and income to support development projects.

This fundraising appeal to Light up the Lane will ensure that KCRFC are in a stronger position to return to community grass roots rugby when the current restrictions allow, benefitting current players and those wishing to enjoy the game of rugby long into the future.

The total cost of the flood light project is £37,000 of which KCRFC are able to fund 50% of the amount required which is a fantastic start towards bringing the project to a reality.

This leaves the remaining 50% to be raised, this roughly equates per member to:

· 2 pints of beer for each six nations match,

or

· 8 glasses of wine at the club bar,

or

· 4 Port & Stilton entrance and raffle tickets

We also recognise that currently times are tough but are hopeful that our members, supporters and friends of Kidderminster Carolians Rugby Football Club will shed a little light and contribute if able.
