Light Up A Child's Life Manila

Aim

To provide solar lights to poverty stricken families living in Manila, Philippines.

Following our successful solar light project for a community school in Mombasa (Kenya), The Rotary Club of Godalming has launched a vital fundraising campaign to purchase solar lights for families living in extreme poverty in Manila, Philippines.

The children and families live in extreme poverty and without access to basic services such as electricity and in particular, light.

By replacing the current dangerous situation of either no light or dangerous haphazard wiring connections, we aim to help support an improvement to the communities living conditions.

We are working in collaboration with Purple Community Fund (PCF), a UK based Charity who totally understand the high level of poverty the community is living in and the detrimental effect it has on all aspects of their lives. PCF have developed holistic services in all their centres, providing education, livelihood workshops and skills training, health and nutrition, social welfare and emergency and disaster relief.  

Every light delivered brings not only brightness to a home/community but also hope for a better future. Truly, lighting up a child's life.
