This year we supported 1000 individuals struggling after the death of a loved one. Can you help give a lifeline to 1500 people in 2023?

£75 could pay for a psychologist to deliver a therapy session to 20 people struggling in grief - giving them the vital support they need

£50 could enable someone tormented by difficult memories to attend a grief workshop, equipping them with processing and grounding strategies

£20 would cover the costs of a volunteer to host a ‘Walk and Talk’ event - where 15 people will meet others who share similar losses - helping them feel supported in their grief

£200 could send someone tormented by difficult memories and flashbacks on a therapy course - providing them with tools to manage their grief

We support people who've had a loved one die from cancer or Covid-19, people like Angela. This is her story…

April 2021. ANGELA ATTENDS HER FIRST ONLINE SUPPORT GROUP
“I’d spend hours every day just Googling - I felt that bad, that desperate, until one day - I found The Loss Foundation"
Angela connected with Julia - another attendee - during her first group meeting. Since then they're in touch every week. On bad days, Julia is the first one Angela will call (even in the middle of the night). And the same goes for Julia.

October 2021. ANGELA TAKES A GRIEF WORKSHOP
“I could see that there’s the idea of growing your world around grief... it did give me hope”
During one of our workshops on grief models, Angela discovered why she’d struggled with the so-called ‘five stages of grief’ - an outdated and misquoted model, and a model she knew she didn’t fit. Through the workshop Angela  was able to explore different ways of looking at grief that she did identify with.

September 2022. ANGELA ATTENDS THERAPY GROUPS
“It isn’t just talking about it, it’s practical ideas as to how I can help myself deal with some of the other problems that grief brings up”
Angela joined our psychologist-led therapy groups focusing on specific aspects of loss - spanning eight 2-hour sessions to go deeper and cover more topics. As a result, Angela's sleep and flashbacks improved.

October 2022. ANGELA BECOMES A 'WALK AND TALK' VOLUNTEER
“I’ve done the walking volunteer training… I want to be able to be there when other people need help”
Recently Angela joined 9 other volunteers to become a walking volunteer with The Loss Foundation. In 2023, she’ll host her first walk where bereaved individuals will meet others who have lost loved ones to cancer.

Can you give the gift of a LIFELINE AFTER LOSS?

This year we supported 1000 individuals struggling after the death of a loved one, can you help give a lifeline to 1500 people in 2023 - people such as Angela who find a friend like Julia, as well as the ability to self-care (and sleep!) in grief.
