The Cause
A gift of life for Kayan - A kidney transplant journey.
Our precious Kayan, a brave and wonderful 12 year old boy, has been living with chronic kidney disease for many years.
For a long time his renal function was stable at stage 3, and he navigated his condition with incredible resilience and a bright smile that lights up the room.
Despite being non - verbal, a full time wheelchair user, has complex needs, and communicates in his own unique way Kayan has always shown a curious spirit, and finds joy in the simple things around him.
Tragically, his health has recently taken a devastating turn, following a prescription of what has now been identified as a toxic batch of vitamin D, Kayan’s renal function rapidly deteriorated.
He is now facing end stage renal failure and urgently needs a kidney transplant to save his life and to offer him a chance at a healthy future.
Kayan has so much life ahead of him. We want Kayan to live his life to the fullest, without feeling unwell, and being able to spend more time at home with his family.
Sadly his failing kidney, a direct consequence of this medical incident, is making everyday life a significant struggle.
He faces frequent hospital visits, debilitating fatigue, and intensive medical treatments all while bravely managing the additional challenges of his sensory processing disorder.
The journey towards his kidney transplant is a long and arduous one, filled with many hardships, the NHS waiting list is 3 years, while Kayan’s prognosis is 2 years.
That is why we are reaching out to our community, friends, and compassionate individuals for your support, to go ahead with a private kidney transplant.
We have created this campaign, to raise £70,000 to help ease the financial strain of Kayan’s urgent kidney transplant. The surgery with 1 year aftercare will cost £42,000 and essential aftercare for the consecutive years will cost around £6,700 per year.
Every donation, no matter the size, will directly impact his life, bringing us closer to the day he can recieve a healthy kidney and finally have the opportunity to live his life to the fullest, free from the immediate threat of kidney failure caused by this unforeseen event.
